Hi, I’m Nicole. I am the owner and lead editor at Ford Editing. I grew up in Ithaca, New York, where I stayed until graduating from Cornell University in 2007. I began my publishing career in 2008 as an editorial assistant at an academic press in Buffalo, New York, where I was promoted to publications manager just over a year later. During my three years at the press, I managed and edited more than two hundred titles focused in the arts and humanities.

I moved to Washington, DC, with my husband in 2011 and started Ford Editing in May of 2012. I edited part time until October of 2012, when I decided that I was ready to take a stab at freelancing full time. Five years later, I couldn't be happier with that decision.

I specialize in editing academic works, working mainly with Johns Hopkins University Press and Penn State University Press, but I also enjoy editing nonfiction trade, fiction, and children's books, most notably for National Geographic, Hachette, and Penguin Random House, as well as for individual authors.

I am a lover of words. With every project, I strive to deliver a clean, readable, and enjoyable work while being careful to retain your unique style and voice.
